About

The Vincent Rooms are gems within Westminster Kingsway College and include The Brasserie and the exclusive, more formal Escoffier Restaurant. Both are available to hire for lunches, dinners, award ceremonies and conferences.

During term-time they offer visitors the opportunity to see how today’s students are progressing and a chance to meet and encourage the best of London’s talent at very reasonable prices.

Eclectic flavours abound in The Brasserie's elegant surroundings, with starters such as soft-shell crab with mango salsa preceding pan-fried sea bream on crab-and-chilli risotto, or an open lasagne of duck livers and wild mushrooms.

However, it is chef Auguste Escoffier’s foundations in cookery that the college prides itself on in The Escoffier Room.

OUR HISTORY

In the early 1900s, a group of respected philanthropists, hoteliers and restaurateurs including Auguste Escoffier, Cesar Ritz, Isadore Salmon and Baroness Burdett-Coutts were behind the founding of a school that is today known as Westminster Kingsway College.

Their vision was to inspire both students and staff in culinary arts and science, and soon after the school opened, it was decided that a training restaurant was vital to enable students to practice cooking and serving meals to the public. Today this is known as The Vincent Room Brasserie, which continues to provide the students with hands-on experience and diners with fabulous food.

The Escoffier Room, named after Auguste Escoffier, was built following an extension of the premises and officially opened in 1953. Over the years many improvements have been made to it, such as the addition of a kitchen with state of the art equipment, which is used to service the restaurant. Today its output continues to follow Escoffier’s passion for culinary excellence.

OUR FUTURE

Westminster Kingsway College has a heritage and reputation for being a leader in culinary education and training. At the forefront of this are our two restaurants that will continue to deliver high quality food and service that not only meet the standards set by our founder Auguste Escoffier, but also meet the requirements for today’s contemporary diners. Our aim is to provide unrivalled food and service that is sustainable, educational and with the utmost provenance.

The training of our students encompasses technology, science, culinary art and classical food service. The college’s restaurants are a reflection of this and are designed to give our students the opportunity to learn in a real environment that is always customer focused. We are producing the future stars of the hospitality industry right here at Vincent Square, who will eventually go on to lead the capital's culinary heart for generations to come.
